Nasal Rhinoplasty Surgery
In facial plastic surgery, nasal rhinoplasty is one of the oldest procedures. Nasal rhinoplasty surgery can be very effective at changing the shape of the nose to the patient’s desired shape. Even though great results can be obtained, it is also one of the most complex cosmetics surgeries available. The nasal surgery will differ from patient to patient and each procedure is customized to the person being treated.
In the past couple of months, there has been a lot of focus on nonsurgical rhinoplasty. These procedures often use different fillers such as Radiesse and Restylane. These fillers are injected into the nose to fill out depressions and bumps. This is great for treating small areas, but for total re-sculpting, it is best to have nasal rhinoplasty done.
Nasal Rhinoplasty is it seed show where the nose is sculpted by enhancing, removing and narrowing various areas of the nose. This is accomplished through surgery and the use of fillers. The nose can be shaped into the desired shape and the success rates of such surgeries are extremely high.
Below we will list the steps that are often taken when having Nasal Rhinoplasty surgery done.
Planning
Generally before a nasal rhinoplasty surgery done, it is important for patients to discuss and plan certain aspects of the procedure with their doctor. The doctor will perform a physical examination of the nose, including both the external and internal section of the organ. The doctor will be able to identify the areas of the nose that needs to be fixed and explain what will be done during the procedure. This is very important as he will explain the risks associated with nasal rhinoplasty as well as what the patient should expect with the final result.
The Nasal Rhinoplasty Procedure
The nasal rhinoplasty surgery calls for the repositioning, removing or adding cartilage to the nose. The nose can be altered to create a thinner look, or part of the nasal bone and cartilage can be removed from the bridge of the nose to get rid of a pronounced nasal hump.
The nose is altered through a series of incisions that are made inside the nose or at the bottom of it. If an external incision is done, this is usually called open rhinoplasty. These incisions are often left to do more serious revision surgery. Generally good results can be gained without having to resort to an open rhinoplasty incision, unless the nose is severely damaged.
Generally with nasal rhinoplasty surgery, the cartilage that is generally found in the tip of the nose is reshaped. The tip can be changed in various ways to get the desired effect. The size of the nose can also be reduced in this procedure. People who have wide noses can have them reduced to have it accentuate the face.
Generally septoplasty is often performed during surgery as a way to improve the patient’s breathing.
Nasal Rhinoplasty Recovery
Recovery from Nasal Rhinoplasty surgery requires that a metal or plastic splint is placed on the bridge of the nose. This is usually left on for 3-5 days. When it comes to breathing, the patient is able to breathe properly immediately after surgery. After a couple of days, the sutures that are found in the nose will dissolve. If sutures are placed outside of the nose, they are usually removed 4-7 days after surgery.
There is some pain after the surgery, but it is mild. There will also be some bruising around the nose and under the eyes. This maybe black and blue or yellow/brown. This will usually go away after a couple of weeks.
Nasal Rhinoplasty Results
The results of nasal rhinoplasty are usually immediate. When the dressing is taken off, you will be able to see the results. There might be a little swelling and this will take a couple of months for it to go away. The result from nasal rhinoplasty are usually dramatic and provides the patient with the changes in their nose that they desire. These changes are permanent and will often last a lifetime.
